The loyalty program will allow EV drivers to redeem points and discounts at On the Run Charging stations starting Fall 2025

On the Run Charging is joining the Journie Rewards loyalty program to give electric vehicle drivers a way to earn and redeem rewards by plugging in their vehicles.

The announcement was made today at the EV & Charging Expo 2025 hosted by Electric Autonomy at the Enercare Centre in Toronto.

Journie Rewards is one of Canada’s largest loyalty programs. (It has over 6 million members.)

Until now, the program has focused on offering savings on fuel, food, and snacks. The addition of EV charging discounts expands the program’s reach and brings EV drivers into consideration.

“The addition of a loyalty program is one of the many ways we are looking to offer ‘more than a plug’ to Canadian EV drivers,” says a spokesperson for On the Run Charging, to Electric Autonomy.

“To our knowledge, this is the first loyalty program in Canada to offer discounts on EV charging.”

Charging points and access

Beginning this fall, EV drivers can earn Journie Rewards points per kilowatt hour charged at participating On the Run EV Fast Charge locations (or Marché Express Recharge Rapide in Quebec).

Points may be redeemed for discounts on future charging sessions.

There is no cost to join the loyalty program. Users must simply initiate and pay for a charging session using the Journie Rewards app.

Right now, the program is offering a $5 in-store reward after a user’s first charge if they pay using the Journie Rewards App or pay directly at the charger terminal using a credit or debit card. Customers earn another $5 in-store reward with every 100-kWh charged through the app.

Once the reward program opens fully to EV charging, drivers will need to redeem a minimum of 300 points to earn a discount on a charging session.

On the Run Charging currently operates 59 charging sites across British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, and Quebec. The network says it is planning to open more than 100 news locations this year — with a major focus on expansion into Ontario and Quebec.
