As of April, Electric vehicle drivers in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland have a new — and markedly faster — way to charge.
On The Run, a North American network of convenience stores owned and operated by Parkland Corp., a Canadian energy and retail company, is now offering 400 kW EV charging at a new location on 120 Street in Delta, B.C.
The announcement comes on the heels of a pledge from Parkland earlier this year to open 400 kW chargers.
The Delta site offers three chargers — one providing a maximum 400 kW of charge and the others 180 kW. All three chargers are free for a limited-time, introductory offer.
More 400 kW chargers
The retail chain is already preparing to open more 400 kW EV chargers this year. Four more sites are coming online this spring in B.C. and two in Quebec. Ontario can also expect to see a handful of sites go into operation in the back half of the year.
On The Run is using EV charging hardware provided by ABB Group (the A400 units at 400 kW and the Terra 184 units at 180 kW).
“The A400 charger delivers an enhanced customer experience,” reads a social media post from On The Run, “with reliability and performance from a 32-inch screen to higher power charging sessions and power sharing.”

In addition to promoting the improved charging experience, the company highlights that its sites offer other amenities for drivers waiting for their vehicles to charge, including food and beverages.
On The Run’s chargers are compatible with CCS and CHAdeMO plugs. The company pledged to roll out NACS adapters in 2024; however their website currently indicates Tesla drivers are required to bring their own adapters (which will have a maximum charging speed of 50 kW).
