Dodge has set the Canadian starting price for the new electric Dodge Charger Daytona R/T two-door coupe: a federal rebate-eligible $54,995.

Both the R/T model and the higher-performance Dodge Charger Daytona Scat Pack model (priced at $86,995) will begin production at the Stellantis Windsor (Ontario) Assembly Plant this summer. Deliveries to dealers will begin in the fourth quarter, initially in B.C. and Quebec.

The new Charger will be the first passenger EV made in Canada by any automaker since Toyota made a limited number of RAV4 EVs in Ontario in 2012-14.

Dodge says it will expand deliveries to other markets as production ramps up. It expects all models will be eligible for federal and provincial government rebates.

It will also expand production in Windsor in the first half of 2025 to include four-door models of both vehicles.

Traditional “muscle” performance in an EV

“The future of the Dodge brand launches with a two-model 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona two-door lineup that looks, drives, sounds and feels like a Dodge, outperforming the legendary models they replace and delivering the experience the Dodge Brotherhood of Muscle expects,” said Matt McAlear, Dodge brand chief executive officer for Stellantis, in a press release.

High-performance defines the entire lineup. The inaugural R/T comes with a factory-installed “Direct Connection Stage 1 Upgrade” for a total output of 496 horsepower and 404 lb.-ft. of torque.

Likewise, the Scat Pack is equipped with a factory-installed “Direct Connection Stage 2 Upgrade” that results in a total output of 670 horsepower and 404 lb.-ft of torque.

Dodge says the Scat Pack accelerates from 0 to 60 miles per hour (96.5 kph) in 3.3 seconds.

Standard features on all Charger Daytona models include:

  • Hidden hatch design, wide body proportions and a front R-Wing pass-through to enhance the vehicles aggressive profile while improving aerodynamic performance;
  • A PowerShot feature that offers an incremental 40 hp in a 15-second burst;
  • One-pedal driving and regenerative braking with three levels of adjustment through paddle shifters on a heated performance steering wheel;
  • A 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 radio, featuring wireless Android Audio and Apple Car Play, Amazon Alexa capability, Performance Pages with EV Pages; and
  • Drive modes, including Auto, Eco, Sport, Wet/Snow and Valet on R/T

Both models also come with a wide range of additional performance, comfort and entertainment feature functions.

Charging the Dodge Charger

Buyers of the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona can choose between two charging options.

First is a Free2move Charge Home Package with a 48-amp Level 2 charging station. The other is a Free2move Charge Go Package that includes charging credits to be used at public stations on the Free2move Charge network.

(Free2move is a charging “ecosystem” launched by Stellantis in 2023.)

Dodge says the new Charger Daytona goes from 20-to-80 per cent charge status in just over 27 minutes with a DC fast charger.
