The Fisker Ocean One SUV is an elusive electric vehicle on the market today. While the company has long promised a presence on Canadian roads, its efforts appeared to be directed elsewhere.
Not any more.
Fisker today announced that it expects regulatory approval to begin fulfilling Canadian Ocean One SUV orders on Sept. 7, with all initial deliveries to be completed by the end of the month.
“We have strong reservations and a solid bank of orders for the Fisker Ocean in Canada,” chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker said in a press release, adding that the Vancouver and Toronto areas are leading in customer interest.
“We have always planned to reach customers throughout North America and are excited to be completing that strategy. And we are especially grateful for the patience of our future Canadian owners as we have ramped up our business in 2023.”
The all-electric Ocean One SUV is manufactured in Austria by Canada’s Magna International subsidiary Magna Steyr. Canadian availability comes three months after Fisker delivered its first Ocean One SUVs to customers in the U.S.
Now that there will be Fiskers in use in Canada, the company has also announced how it plans to better reach and serve customers.
Fisker’s Canadian expansion plan comes in two parts: support and growth.
On the growth side of the ledger, the company says it plans to open two retail locations in Vancouver and Toronto. It says will also offer test drive events in September in and near the two cities.
In the support category, both Toronto and Vancouver will also host Fisker service centres and Fisker-certified collision-repair centres. For customers in other locations, Fisker says it be setting up a mobile service with technicians.
Fisker’s support strategy also includes a financing component. The automaker is partnering with Scotiabank to provide “consumer financing” options and services.
Base model of the Fisker Ocean One SUV starts at $43,999. Prices goes as high as $89,999 over four trim levels.
Fisker has not yet released dates for when its retail and service centres will open.
