Coming this fall, the lower-priced companion to the EQB 350 SUV has a base MSRP of $59,990 and a battery range of 394 kilometres

Mercedes-Benz Canada has added another battery-electric SUV to its EV lineup, the 2023 EQB 250 SUV.

With a base MSRP of $59,990, the front-wheel drive EQB 250 is described as a “practical luxury SUV” — a lower-priced companion to the EQB 350 SUV which went on sale in Canada in 2022.

At that price, it is also eligible for the federal iZEV $5,000 purchase incentive as well as various provincial incentive programs.

Mercedes says the new EQB 250 will be available at dealers across Canada this fall.

It comes with a 70.5 kWh battery with a stated range of 394 kilometres that produces 188 horsepower, 284 lb/ft of torque and a top speed of 160 km/h. The maximum DC fast charging speed is 100 kW and the EQB 250 requires a minimum of 32 minutes to go from 10 per cent to an 80 per cent state of charge.

Five to seven passengers

The vehicle’s standard configuration seats five, but it can accommodate up to seven passengers with an optional pair of individual seats in a third row. To increase luggage space, the third-row seats can be lowered flush into the load floor.

Other standard features include Mercedes’ Dynamic Select, a system that gives drivers the option to select from a series of different driving modes; 18-inch wheels; a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch touchscreen multimedia display; the Mercedes-Benz User Experience multimedia infotainment system; voice control; split-folding rear seats, and adaptive braking technology.

Mercedes is offering five package upgrades for drivers interested in extra trim, technology and intelligent driving functionality. A panoramic sunroof is also available.

On the exterior, the EQB 250 includes front and rear LED light bands integrated into a black-panel grill. Blue colour highlights within the headlamp reinforce “the signature Mercedes-Benz electric appearance.”
