Transportation services are evolving rapidly. Powered by new technologies and the post-pandemic expectation of flexibility, the transit service of tomorrow does not resemble the transit services of two years ago.
Conscientious planning is required to ensure inclusivity — that means making sure people with limited mobility or mobility challenges, parents with young children, rural residents and people with specialized vehicle needs, such as wheelchair users, are given equitable and reliable access to a crucial and essential area of public infrastructure.
In this panel discussion, we explore how connected, intelligent and inclusive transportation benefits these communities and, by ripple effect, all communities. Safely and securely managed data will help transit agencies become smarter and bring efficiency to the urban, suburban and rural roads they operate on.
We’ll also hear about the success of an accessible rideshare pilot for expectant and new mothers. This program has been so well received, providing access to pre and postnatal care, that it has the potential to be tailored to other cities that are experiencing either lowered birth rates or where access to maternal care is at risk.
