Drivers in Canada and the U.S. will now be able to initiate and pay for EV charging sessions at Couche-Tard/Circle K Recharge stations ChargeHub’s Passport app
Convenience store and service station chain Alimentation Couche-Tard, which operates under the Circle K brand everywhere but Quebec, is making its electric vehicle charging network more accessible with a new roaming partnership with Kirkland, Que.-based ChargeHub.
The partnership means EV drivers using Couche-Tard/Circle K Recharge charging stations will now not only be able to locate those stations through the ChargeHub Passport app, but initiate and pay for their sessions using the app as well.
“The partnership with ChargeHub makes our Canadian network available to additional EV drivers. Making our customers’ lives easier is part of our corporate DNA and that’s exactly what we’re accomplishing through this partnership,” says Stéphane Drapeau-Bouchard, senior manager, electric mobility operations North America, Circle K.
Drivers can also continue to access Couche-Tard chargers using the Couche-Tard/ Circle K Recharge app.
Other networks already available through roaming agreements on the Passport app include ChargePoint, Shell Recharger, Circuit Électrique, SWTCH and Hypercharge — giving users roaming access to more than 80,000 stations in all across North America, says ChargeHub.
“You can use a single account to charge on multiple networks,” says Simon Pillarella, ChargeHub’s head of marketing and business development.
“The idea is that the Couche-Tard/Circle K network is now going to be open to all the partners that are connected to the app. So, that’s going to be fleet clients and other OEMs and so on as we grow the business.”
Couche-Tard is a leading EV charging provider in Europe, with over 400 Circle K locations offering fast charging.
In Canada, the retailer has established a network of more than 45 DC fast charging stations across Quebec, British Columbia, Ontario, and Alberta.
The company has previously told Electric Autonomy that it plans to deploy more chargers in 2024 and collaborate with more roaming partners. This includes establishing 200 more charging locations throughout Canada and the United States by the end of this year.
