Toyota’s all-electric SUV has received a significant overhaul for 2026. The newly updated Toyota bZ—formerly known as the bZ4X— is available at dealerships across Canada with a starting price of $45,990.
The 2026 lineup includes three versions: the base model, the bZ XLE front-wheel drive; the bZ XLE all-wheel drive, starting at $53,390; and the Limited all-wheel drive, priced at $61,690.
“The newly-updated Toyota bZ makes an all-electric vehicle a compelling choice for an even greater number of drivers – offering Canadians the styling, performance, safety, quality, and amenities that only Toyota can deliver, backed by our industry-leading expertise in powertrain electrification and our top-rated dealer experience,” says Robert Tsang, vice-president, Toyota Canada Inc., in a press statement.
The all-wheel-drive models now feature a larger 77-kWh lithium-ion battery, increasing total capacity and extending driving range by up to 25 per cent compared to the previous model.
Toyota estimates a maximum range of 468 kilometres for the XLE AWD and 436 kilometres for the Limited AWD. Meanwhile, the front-wheel-drive XLE uses a 57.7-kWh battery to deliver a range of up to 380 kilometres.
The all-wheel-drive versions also deliver a power boost; output rises to 338 horsepower, a 50 per cent increase from the previous generation. These versions can accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in about 5.1 seconds.
Among the 2026 updates is the addition of a North American Charging System (NACS) port, giving drivers access to Tesla’s Supercharger network across Canada.
Under ideal conditions, Toyota says DC fast charging can replenish the battery from 10 to 80 per cent in roughly 30 minutes. Toyota has also upgraded the onboard AC charger across all trims from 7 kW to 11 kW, enabling faster charging at home and at public Level 2 stations.
The 2026 bZ features a redesigned front fascia with slimmer LED lighting and optional colour-matched front and rear fenders. Inside, Toyota has reworked the cabin for greater comfort and usability. The SUV now includes a larger 14-inch touchscreen, an updated centre console and dual wireless phone charging docks.
“With so many improvements for 2026, the bZ also demonstrates our unwavering determination to offer Canadians the power of choice – including the choice of multiple powertrain options, each designed to excel in the real world,” says Tsang.
