Deliveries will begin mid-year, but the 2024 EV & Charging Expo in May is offering an early peek

Canadian drivers eagerly awaiting Chevrolet’s 2024 Silverado EV now have clear pricing details to consider.

Last week, General Motors Canada announced that the fleet-focused Silverado EV 3WT (Work Truck) trim will have a starting MSRP of $74,699.

Meanwhile, the Silverado EV First Edition RST (Rally Sport Truck) pickup is priced at $117,499.

“The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV reimagines our best-selling nameplate with the power and capability you expect from a rugged Chevrolet truck,” wrote James Hodge, brand director, Chevrolet at GM Canada, in a Linkedin post.

All models are subject to additional freight and fee charges. As well, neither of the Silverado EV trim levels qualifies for the federal iZEV rebate incentive.

Silverado EV on display

Chevrolet initially unveiled the 2024 Silverado EV in January 2022 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES). At the time, the automaker had announced that the Silverado EV WT model offers a range of 724km.

In Hodge’s recent post, Chevrolet has now revealed the Silverado EV First Edition RST range is at 708 km on a full charge.

Both EV trim levels have a dual-motor setup. The RST motor system produces over 660 horsepower and 780 pound-feet of torque. This allows for a zero to 60 mph acceleration of approximately 4.5 seconds.

Meanwhile, the WT model delivers 510 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque.

Both the RST and WT models have the same 24-module Ultium battery pack.

They also feature public DC fast charging capabilities of up to 350kW. Based on the Chevrolet’s estimates, this can add about 160 kilometres of range in just 10 minutes.

Canadians can expect to see deliveries of the Silverado EV start mid-year, says Hodge.

However, for those wanting to see the Chevy Silverado EV in person sooner, it will be showcased at Electric Autonomy’s EV and Charging Expo in Toronto on May 1st and 2nd.

New V2H charging technology

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV First-Edition RST will also be GM’s first electric vehicle equipped with vehicle-to-home (V2H) bidirectional charging technology.

The V2H technology allow the RST model to supply power to properly equipped homes. This will help to “mitigate the negative impacts of weather-related outages and integrate with future clean energy products for even greater personal grid resiliency,” says GM in a press statement.

GM customers will be able to purchase this V2H tech bundle through the GM Energy product suite on GM mobile apps. GM says it will use its GM Energy subsidiary to broaden its energy ecosystem with new products and services, including promoting EV education, expanding public charging, and creating energy management solutions for customers.

GM plans to roll out V2H bidirectional charging capabilities across more Ultium-based EVs by 2026.

GM Energy is also planning to to introduce additional residential energy solutions, such as stationary energy storage and solar integration, available for purchase later this year.
