Charge Hub and EV Society, with funding from Natural Resources Canada, are running a Canada-wide photo contest for pictures featuring electric vehicle charging stations.

The contest runs until August 31, 2023. It is looking to capture not just the charging stations themselves, but the places they happen to be located.

“We’re looking at the environment,” says Simon Pillarella, head of marketing and business development at ChargeHub, in an interview with Electric Autonomy.

“What’s really missing, we believe, is that the charging experience for people is complicated. For a lot of people this is new…they want to find the best charging sites. How does it look?”

ChargeHub is an app that provides EV drivers a live map of all the charging stations across North America. It is a user-driven platform relying on charger feedback from over 100,000 users since 2012.

The EV Society is a national not-for-profit organization that represents EV owners across Canada.

Contest details

The ChargeHub/EV Society photo contest aims to provide peace of mind to drivers trying to identify the best charging options for their needs which can range from pull-throughs, to restaurants, to playgrounds, bathrooms or shopping.

With that in mind photos must meet some criteria.

First, there must be no other images of a particular charging site available. Second, the photo must show what exists around the charging station. Third, they must be original to the submitter and authentic.

“The ideal outcome for us is a significant increase in the quality of site pictures in our app, because this app exists for the EV community. The more pictures we have the more relevant the information becomes,” says Pillarella.

Successful entrants are eligible to win a selection of prizes that include: $100-$500 in charging credits, A ChargeHub membership, a $500 Amazon gift card, $150 Yet-E-Boot Charge Port Protector premium package or one year membership to the EV Society.
