Accelerating the Deployment of Plug-in Electric Vehicles in Canada and Ontario
The transportation sector is currently the second largest contributor of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Canada. The optimal use of electric vehicles reduces the demand for gasoline and diesel, thus helping to meet GHG emissions reductions targets and achieve climate change and air quality objectives. Because of the potential benefits of EV technology, federal and provincial governments are implementing ambitious programs in support of EV production and use.
The report Accelerating the Deployment of Plug-in Electric Vehicles in Canada and Ontario is the result of a collaborative study undertaken by Bruce Power, Plug’n Drive, Pollution Probe and the University of Waterloo’s Department of Chemical Engineering. The report explores potential options for building on existing policy frameworks at the federal and provincial levels related to electric vehicles, and highlights opportunities to optimize their potential to contribute to decarbonisation efforts.
