Canadians shopping for an electric vehicle that won’t break the bank now have a new contender to consider: the Kia EV4.
Calling the vehicle “a significant step forward in making electric mobility more accessible to Canadians,” the South Korean automaker says its first global EV sedan will “bring a fresh alternative to an SUV-heavy market.”
The all-new 2026 EV4 sedan made its North American debut earlier this past April at the New York International Auto Show and is now available for ordering in Canada.
Pricing varies by trim level, starting at $38,995 MSRP for the Light FWD Standard Range, $42,995 MSRP for the Wind FWD Long Range, $45,495 MSRP for the Wind Premium FWD Long Range, $48,495 MSRP for the GT-Line FWD Long Range and $51,995 MSRP for the GT-Line Limited FWD/AWD Long Range.
“The Kia EV4 provides the first accessible, all-electric sedan to Canadian consumers who are looking for affordability, without sacrificing advanced technology, cutting-edge styling, and the driving experience only a sedan can deliver,” said David Sherrard, director of strategic planning for Kia Canada, in a press release.
“The arrival of the EV4 further cements Kia’s commitment to providing widely accessible EV mobility solutions to the Canadian market.”
Built on Kia’s 400-volt E-GMP platform, the EV4 comes with two battery sizes: a 58.3 kWh standard-range battery on the Light trim, and an 81.4 kWh long-range battery on Wind, Wind Premium, GT-Line and GT-Line Limited models.
Both configurations power a front-mounted 150 kW electric motor producing 201 horsepower.
The EV4’s driving range varies by trim. The Light Standard Range FWD version will deliver up to 391 km of range, the Wind Long Range FWD up to 552 km, the Wind Premium Long Range FWD up to 515 km and the GT-Line / GT-Line Limited up to 488 km.
With the 58.3 kWh standard-range battery, the EV4 can fast-charge from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 29 minutes, and about 31 minutes with the long-range pack.
The EV4 is the first Kia model to debut the brand’s i-Pedal 3.0 variable regenerative braking system. The latest version allows drivers to accelerate, decelerate, and come to a complete stop using only the accelerator pedal, while working alongside adaptive Smart Regenerative Braking to recover energy that would otherwise be lost during braking.
Kia has equipped the EV4 with a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assistance systems.
Available features include Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA2). This feature uses navigation-based speed limit data on controlled-access roads to automatically adjust vehicle speed and maintain a safe following distance under certain conditions.
Standard safety features for the Canadian market include Driver Attention Warning, Forward Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Following Assist 2, and Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist, with Remote Smart Parking Assist offered on select trims. The EV4 also includes Hands-On Detection (HOD) technology. It monitors steering wheel contact to ensure the driver remains engaged, enabling or disabling ADAS.
