The all-electric, seven-seat passenger van, with retro styling modelled after the iconic VW Bus of the 1960s, will start arriving at Canadian dealers late this year

It’s official. Volkswagen’s 2025 ID. Buzz is coming to Canadian dealers in late 2024, with a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price of $77,495.

The ID. Buzz is an all-electric seven-seat passenger van that combines retro styling modelled after the original, iconic VW Bus with the latest technology and design features.

Two “1st Edition” models will be available, with either rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The MSRP for the AWD version is $82,995.

Both are equipped with a 91 kWh battery. The RWD version delivers 282 horsepower with a range of 377 kilometres. The more-powerful AWD model has a maximum of 335 horsepower and a range of 373 km.

Design and driving highlights

Standard ID. Buzz features include two-tone 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, a 12.9-inch “infotainment” system and dual-power sliding rear doors.

VW describes its wrap-around window design on the ID. Buzz as a “greenhouse.” Drivers who want even more light and glass can add an electrochromic panoramic “smart” glass roof for an additional $2,000. The glass roof can be changed from transparent to opaque with a fingertip swipe controller.

Driver features include a heads-up display and VW’s advanced driving assistance technology, which provides hands-on semi-automated capabilities as well as a Park Assist Plus feature with “memory parking.”

The RWD model has a split-folding centre bench seat. In the AWD model, that’s replaced with dual centre-row Captain’s chairs.

Both models offer both single- and two-tone exterior colour options.

Part of 2024 rollout

The Canadian launch of the ID. Buzz is part of the vehicle’s 2024 global rollout.

In Europe this week, VW unveiled an expanded number of ID. Buzz models. There is no word at this time if or when any of those versions will be available here.
